Aerobics

Not all exercises are the same! Although it is always good to get exercise, how do you know if your aerobics exercise is burning enough? There are a few ways to check, and one is just to know which types of exercise will burn the most calories. You can also add to your aerobics workout in order to make it burn more calories.

Which cardio / aerobics exercises burn the most calories?

Swimming is one of the best aerobics exercises out there. This is the only exercise that requires you to keep moving your arms and your legs for an extended period of time. If you go lap swimming, you will start burning more calories than you would if you just went walking – plus it would be a full body workout!

Besides swimming, the best workouts are always the ones in which you have to move more than just your arms or just your legs in order to achieve results. Some of the aerobics classes that are taught in most gyms will burn more calories than the exercises you can do on your own. These exercises were designed to burn as many calories as possible during the duration of the class. While some of these aerobics routines might be too difficult for the beginner, every gym will have at least one aerobics class for the beginner.

Although it is not likely you have the area for it, a great way to burn calories is to go cross country skiing during the winter. This is one of the most strenuous forms of exercise out there. Of course, if you do not have this option you should always try one of the other forms of aerobic exercise.

Although it is not the most popular form of aerobics exercise, you shouldn’t underestimate the power of just going for a run. Sure, it’s not all that fun, but you can always load up your iPod with podcasts or music and just start jogging. The only necessary equipment for jogging is a good pair of running shoes.

How can I get more out of the aerobics that I’m already doing?

You can always try to push yourself – run faster, run harder, or even try to swim more laps. Another option is to start carrying small weights with you while you run or strap weights to your arms and legs when you go swimming (but not too much weight, otherwise you’ll tire too easily).

The aerobics exercises listed earlier in this article are all great ways to get a strenuous, calorie-burning exercise. However, the effectiveness of any aerobics will depend entirely on how you go about doing them. The harder you work and the longer you exercise, the more calories and fat you’ll burn!
